We finally have a new, but simple website for our mother foundation, the Casa Milagro Foundation. It has links to our three main project groups and we’ll be working hard to update the site and provide more information as time goes on. We hope you have a chance to take a peek at it. Tropical Adventures and the Casa Milagro Foundation have a new home in Puerto Viejo. This home acts as our Welcome Center, volunteer residence and Spanish school. We’re very excited to have a real presence in town now, as well as having a place for volunteers to gather, get to know one another and spend time together.

This new house is about 900 feet from the ocean; still close enough to hear the waves. And it’s only about 1 mile from the center of town.

There are presently 4 bedrooms available in the house. Each can hold up to 3 people. We also rent out rooms to non-volunteers when available. Our website and online reservation system can be found by clicking here.   

We offer breakfast, a full kitchen, common TV, high-speed wireless access, laundry service, boogie board and snorkel rentals, as well as bike rentals.

Now part of the Casa Milagro Foundation family is VIDA, offering medical, dental and veterinary clinics throughout Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua. Our two VIDA team members brings a collective 15 years experience in leading these clinics.

These clinics are offered several times a year and provide great hands-on experience in the field for students considering a career in medicine or just for people who love to help out. Not only do we provide great training and experience for the participants, but also free, high-quality care to at-risk people and animals who don't have access to these services.

Volunteers working with the indigenous women's group in Shiroles have the choice of staying with a host family, or on this beautiful educational farm. Finca Educativa was built and founded by another NGO called ANAI, which has been working on sustainable development in Costa Rica since 1978.

ANAI typically only stays in one area for a certain period of time, helping locals to become self-sustaining. After many years in Shiroles, they donated this land and educational farm to the local residents, who formed their own non-profit association to run this educational training facility.

In addition to training, the farm provides private lodging in a hostel-type setting, as well as meeting space and three traditional, delicious meals per day. The staff is delightful and the setting is beautiful. You'll be surrounded by many species of tropical birds, plants and flowers, as well as iguanas, raccoons, reptiles, sloths and countless other animals. The farm is located directly across the street from the ACOMUITA offices on the Talamanca Indigenous Reservation.
